Ms JEONG Keeyun

Researcher in the Social Invention Center
Hope Institute, Korea
Ms Jeong Keeyun was born in Seoul, South Korea and she has lived all over the world in Ethiopia, Taiwan, Nigeria, USA, India and France. She majored in French Literature in university. Since she traveled so much around the world, at times, she felt rootless, confused and often asked questions about her identity.
Currently she is working for the Social Invention Center of the Hope Institute, trying to create something resembling that of ‘hope’ through ‘everyday despair’. She has been a new trainee at the Institute for 8 months and she evaluates citizen’s ideas and incorporates them into recommendations for policies and actions.
Her personal motto is “Listening to your own inner voice would make you a tiny bit happier.”
SYNOPSIS
The Hope Institute’s Interactive Social Invention Center is a Citizen’s Ideas Bank. Plus, it seeks to find the way out to reach the goal, ‘Ideas into action.’ Citizens suggest new ideas on-line, and the Social Invention Center examines the validity of ideas through interviewing concerned parties and finding concrete solutions to make ideas work. Some of the ideas can be developed either into public campaigns or policy proposals. Social Invention Centre believes that “small ideas can change the world”. New thoughts and various ideas are shared - through the Internet - then revised, organized and strengthened to form the basis for realistic and precise public policies. Some examples of this approach include: Internet-based Interactive Social Invention ideas, Policy Proposals, Citizen Reviewer’s Club.
We ask, does the Social Invention Center have anything to do with Art and the Culture? – creativity? How is the society related to ideas? How is the idea related to creativity? How can we use creativity to open up the ideas within us, to make the small things change?
