Sir Paul¡¦s educational roles include being Chairman of Teachers¡¦ TV, the television channel and website for the professional development of all those working in schools, of the Lord Mayor¡¦s ¡§City of London ¡V City of Learning¡¨ Initiative, of the Marketing Standards Board, of the Enterprise Education Trust, of Digital Links International and of the British-North American Committee, President of the Association of MBAs and Deputy Chairman of the American Management Association.

He was Chairman of the Royal Society of Arts from 2003-6, now Deputy Chairman, is a Patron of the Royal Academy of Arts and co-chaired the first plenary session of the 2006 UNESCO Conference on Arts Education in Lisbon. He is a recent Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Marketors, a Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Fellow of the Marketing Society and a Member of the Royal Television Society. He has an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Cambridge, an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Westminster and an Honorary Doctor of Science from City University.

His commercial roles include being Chairman of Schroder Income Growth Fund plc, a Director of Standard Bank Group Ltd of South Africa and of Tempur-Pedic International Inc of Kentucky and a Member of the Advisory Board for Barclays Private Bank in London and for Abraaj Capital in Dubai.

He was an Open Scholar at the University of Cambridge and a Thouron Fellow at the Wharton Business School and he then worked for Cadbury Schweppes plc, leading the buyout of their food interests to form Premier Brands Ltd which was successfully sold in 1989. He has subsequently been Chairman of Food from Britain, Director General of the Conservative Party and a Ministerial Adviser at the UK Cabinet Office. He was the key benefactor of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge.
