The world is not our limit, it is only the beginning

Learning about the truths of the world is the beginning, not an end, of education. Studies suggest that being creative is not simply doing things that no one has done before. Creativity must be based on a firm foundation of knowledge in some truths in the existing world. What we know of the world is the foundation for creativity. Our educational paradigm must expand beyond learning the truths of the world.

Our educational community does not always facilitate growth in creativity. For example, in educational assessment, the most valued scores accountable for educational systems are those geared toward knowledge about the truths of the existing world. Subjects such as art, dance, music, and theatre are either not being assessed or not being part of the accountability measure. Worse yet, sometimes, assessments in creative subjects are assessed as if they are non-creative matters.

Younger generations need to learn how to be free from truths of the existing world. Creativity is key to growth in our civilizations. Creativity is also a basic human right. We must not let knowledge about this world be an end in education. We must guide younger generations to a creative path to the future through creative subjects.
